WIDE LOAD!

Heifer (a young cow before she has had her first calf) Lucy due to calve in 5 weeks.  She is just starting to make a little udder and is becoming quite affectionate - sometimes a little pushy in her attempt to get some lovin'.

  2. Yep - Lucy is the baby....then there is Andi, the older sister, who is (fingers crossed) hopefully pregnant also - so Molly, who is also pregnant, will be a two-time grandma and also have a new baby of her own - whew - I think July will be a very busy month!

  3. Still 5 weeks to go. So much nicer than being born in a snowstorm. I would love to have a milk cow. She looks so sweet.

  4. Michaele - YES! on the weather. Lucy is 1/2 Jersey and 1/2 Red Angus so I'm hoping that she'll have just enough milk for her calf and I won't have to milk her. Her sister Andi, on the other hand, is 1/2 Jersey and 1/2 Holstein so I'm assuming IF she calves, she'll have way more milk than one calf can consume. I'll try to find an orphan calf to add to her own baby if possible. It may be a challenge to find an baby calf in July around here! If not, I'll milk her and the pigs and chickens and barn cats will be very happy and I'll also make LOTS and LOTS of cheese :D
